It is no secret among introspective photographers that there is a special relationship between ourselves and what we photograph. Any thoughtful photographer realizes that the images we capture through the lens of our camera not only changes the reality we photograph, but changes ourselves as well. Sebastiao Salgado, a Brazilian photographer whose moving photographic essays document the human face of how globalization is impacting our world, observes that
